John Michell - Chairman
For more than 20 years, John Michell has brought a unique business perspective to the Board of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation. John is the Director of Michell Pty Ltd, one of the world's largest and most modern wool processing plants. He is a highly respected and influential community leader who has, for many years, been a spokesman for the Australian wool industry. In this capacity, he has served on both National and World Wool Textile Organisations and has been an adviser to successive governments. John has also been involved on numerous corporate and private boards.
"Over the past 20 years, my commercial experience has enabled me to assist with raising substantial funds for medical research. I receive much enjoyment and satisfaction from my activities as I'm sure you will by supporting our organisation."
Ray McGrath-Deputy Chairman
Bringing to the board extensive knowledge and experience in the business community is Ray McGrath, founder of the 30-year-old McGrath Real Estate Group. Ray has built his real estate business to be a major force in metropolitan Adelaide. With three generations of his family now involved in the company, Ray has earned the respect of his employees and the broader community. With more than nine years on the board, his dedication is a testament to his committed support to the role of medical research in creating a healthy community for future generations.
Mayor Harold Anderson
Mayor Harold Anderson, who has been a member of the board for seven years, has been a great addition to the board. The City of Charles Sturt places a great emphasis on the interest of the community and are committed to building relationships with the community. This has allowed Mayor Anderson to bring his extensive knowledge of the local community and the support of the City of Charles Sturt to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation.
Mr John Hender
John Hender is the State Manager of Perpetual Ltd Private Wealth Division. He has worked extensively in the financial services industry for over 25 years. He has been involved in sales and marketing, consulting and business development as well as management. John has a long history of community work and has been a board member of the Research Foundation for eight years.
Professor Richard (Dick) Ruffin

Professor Richard Ruffin is the Professor of Medicine at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He has more than 25 years experience working as a respiratory physician consulting at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Lyell McEwin Health Service. Professor Ruffin trained at Prince Henry's Hospital in Melbourne before spending three years as a respiratory research fellow at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada. Professor Ruffin is interested in teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students. In terms of research, he continues to participate in projects such as a population study of risk factors for chronic disease and asthma.

Mr John MacPhail
John MacPhail is a partner of Finlaysons, one of Australia's oldest commercial law firms. He heads the Intellectual Property, Technology and Commercialisation practice area. John has more than 20 years experience working in law firms in London, Sydney and Melbourne. He has been involved in landmark patent, trademark and copyright cases.  He is also dedicated to the development of the industry and works as a postgraduate university lecturer and professional examiner on intellectual property subjects.
Mr Peter Wylie
Peter Wylie has an extensive history of work in the journalism and newspaper industries. He worked as a journalist for Messenger Newspapers before taking on roles such as sub-editor of The News and State Secretary of Australian Journalists' Association. He has also been editor of some of the leading newspapers in Australia including the Sunday Mail, The News, the Daily Mirror in Sydney, the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph in Sydney. He is currently Chairman of Advertiser Newspapers Pty Ltd. He has a history of involvement with community groups including SA Great, Libraries Board of SA and the Masters Games Committee.
Mr Ken Milne
Director of Milne Architects Pty Ltd Ken Milne adds a different aspect to the board. He received a Diploma of Architecture at the University of South Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects. Until recently, he was also a board member on the Chapter Council of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects.
Dr John Beltrame
Leading cardiologist Dr John Beltrame brings a medical perspective to the board. Born in England, Dr Beltrame now calls Australia - and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital - home. He has a Bachelor of Science and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the European Society of Cardiology, the American College of Cardiology and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is currently working as a cardiologist and senior lecturer in medicine.
Lee Jameson
Lee Jameson is State Manager of SGIC Insurance, an IAG Brand which undertakes a great amount of research into environment and safety. This makes the company acutely aware and highly supportive of the benefits which research brings to the community as a whole. With 20 years also spent within the media in the sales and marketing sector, Lee brings a diversity of opinion to the board derived from the benefit of dealing with many businesses.

Caroline Eastwood

With an extensive history in sales and marketing, Caroline Eastwood brings an exciting business perspective to the board of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation. She is currently the State Sales Manager Optus Business SA and has previously worked as Regional Sales Manager of SA/WA, State Manager and Franchise Business Executive, all for Optus. Caroline has also completed extensive training in mediation, driving high performance, leadership, resolving conflict and small business management.
Mr Maurice Henderson
Maurice Henderson has been the Executive Director of the Research Foundation for fourteen years. In that time, the Foundation has formed itself into a sound financial position. Maurice has been a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy faculty and taught at the summer school at the University of Wisconsin for several years. He has also been a guest international presenter at a number of conferences in the US and Canada. He is a fellow of the Institute of Company Directors, Fellow of the Institute of Management, Fellow of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and the only non-North American Fellow of the Institute for Healthcare Philanthropy.
