Hosting a Fundraising EventThe driving force of the Research Foundation’s ability to continue funding research is the continual commitment of many community groups and individuals who raise funds to support research at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Community groups, such as Maria Giannoudis, along with the Women’s Group of the Pierkos Society, have held cancer support dinners to raise money for cancer research at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This year’s dinner raised $8,450 for Bowel Cancer Research. Money was raised from ticket sales, auctions and a raffle. The group has had huge support from the Pierikos Society and the local Greek community and businesses.
We have also had tremendous support from many of the researchers at TQEH. They have given their time and energy to guest speak at community events throughout Adelaide. By doing this we are ensuring the community is directly aware of the research happening and why they are raising the funds. We rely on these groups and their innovative ideas. Each and every one of these groups are imperative to the continuing strength of the funds raised through TQEHRF. It is their selfless acts of philanthropy that help us in our mission to raise the much needed funds for research at TQEH.
