URS Tour De Heart

The 2008 URS Tour de Heart was a tough journey from the highest point in Australia - Mt Kosciusko – to the lowest point - Lake Eyre, approximately 1,638km. The ride commenced in Thredbo Village on Saturday 21st June and finished in Roxby Downs on Thursday 3rd July 2008. Graham Manou was joined by mate Andrew Eime and fellow sporting and Adelaide celebrities along the way, who were up for the challenge. They endured snow in the early stages of the ride, wind, rain and highway traffic. They stopped at various towns for well deserved breaks as well as meeting the locals.

The climax of the URS Tour de Heart was taken place in Roxby Downs when all the riders rode into town on Thursday 3rd July. In conjunction with BHP Billiton Olympic Dam, Roxby Downs Area School and St Barbara Parish School, Graham Manou and his celebrity friends joined in several Bicycle Safety Training with the school children. The fun did not stop there, on the Thursday night there was a Cocktail Party, proudly supported by Systembuilt Homes/EMAC to celebrate the achievement of the riders and raise much needed funds for cardiology research. The target was met and $50,000 was raised for Cardiology Research at TQEH. Well done to all involved!
